VOC problems can occur in both occupied buildings and industrial environments, especially where chemical products are used or new materials are installed.

Renovated Buildings

Paint, sealants, flooring and adhesives can release VOCs during and after renovation.

VOC Control During Building Renovation

Painting and renovation can release VOCs and noticeable chemical odors into rooms, corridors and nearby occupied areas. Ventilation is important, while portable gas-phase filtration can provide additional control where contaminated air needs to be treated during or after renovation work.

Useful for Facility Management

Portable filtration can be deployed temporarily in apartments, hotel rooms, offices, corridors and other renovation zones where permanent filtration is not practical.

Consider the type of compound, emission intensity and whether the source is temporary or continuous.

Check ventilation, room volume and how contaminated air moves through the space.

Choose suitable gas-phase filtration and sufficient media depth for the target application.

Technology

Gas-Phase Filtration for VOC Control

The best treatment depends on the VOC mixture. A system may use activated carbon or more specialised media depending on the target compounds.

Activated Carbon

Activated carbon can adsorb many VOCs when sufficient media quantity, airflow and contact time are provided.

Specialised Carbon

Impregnated or selected carbon media can be used when specific compounds require more targeted gas treatment.

PCO Technology

Photocatalytic oxidation using UV and TiO₂ may be used as part of a combined treatment approach for suitable applications.

Particle Filtration

HEPA filtration captures airborne particles but does not by itself provide effective gas-phase VOC removal.

HEPA captures particles. VOC control requires gas-phase treatment.

For environments containing both dust or fine particles and chemical gases, a multi-stage system can combine particle filtration with activated carbon or other gas-phase media.
